About John James Rickard MacLeod : Physiologist. Born in Cluny Perthshire and educated at Aberdeen Grammar School and Marischal College he was appointed Professor of Physiology at Cleveland, Ohio in 1903. He was awarded, jointly, the Nobel Prize for Medicine and Physiology in 1923 for the discovery of insulin.
