About Alexander Gordon : Obstetrician. Born in Peterculter he gained his MA at Marischal College before reading medicine at Aberdeen Infirmary, Edinburgh and Leiden. He worked as a surgeon in HM Navy prior to studying midwifery in London. Gordon was appointed physician to the Aberdeen Dispensary in 1785 and published A Treatise on the Epidemic Puerperal Fever of Aberdeen, 1795.
